Our Villij

At our wellness studio, we're not just about fitness; we're about transforming lives. We believe that women of color deserve a space to breathe, move, and connect in a way that celebrates their unique selves. For the past 7 years, we've redefined self-care, creating a supportive and inclusive space where women of color can thrive.

Founded and led by best friends Kim and Shanelle, our team is made up of passionate BIPOC women dedicated to reclaiming our place in the wellness industry. Our studio is a testament to the power of community, inclusivity, and the belief that every woman deserves to be well.

Mat Pilates Instructor (PT Contractor)

Location: Toronto, ON
Availability: A minimum of 1-2 days per week (including weekends) OR 1-2 days per month (including weekends)
Compensation: $50-85+ per studio class

We're seeking experienced Mat Pilates instructors to lead both live and recorded digital classes. In this role, you'll create a nurturing, BIPOC-centered, and trauma-informed environment for our community. 

Your classes will cater to a diverse range of participants, from intimate groups to large corporate audiences. You'll work closely with our educators and Programming Manager to deliver exceptional experiences.


What you’ll do:

Before and After Class

  • Arrive 15 minutes early to assist with room setup, warmly greet attendees, and address any pre-class inquiries.

  • Aid in the check-in process as required.

  • Address post-class questions. 

  • Assist with room breakdown.


Teaching Responsibilities

  • Teach both live and recorded digital classes to The Villij community.

  • Plan classes with wisdom and depth.

  • Cultivate a positive and comfortable atmosphere for participants.

  • Deliver a well-rounded experience, including a thorough warm-up, engaging class content, and a grounded 'Villij Closing’.

  • Demonstrate proper form safely and effectively, offering guidance tailored to individual attendees and considering safety and risk factors.

  • Provide modifications catering to all experience levels and abilities.


Promotion and Community Engagement

  • Actively promote upcoming classes, events and workshops.

  • Contribute to maintaining and expanding The Villij community.

  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to assisting others in achieving their health and fitness goals.

  • Serve as a Brand Ambassador, ensuring that the brand image is upheld and positively portrayed at all times.


What you’ll bring:

  • Experience of investing in your wellness journey, and for this reason, you genuinely enjoy to help people do the same. 

  • An appreciation for the art of hosting and making people feel at home.

  • Mat Pilates Certification with 1-3 years of preferred group teaching experience.

  • Must be CPR and First Aid Certified.

  • Professional Liability Insurance.

  • Enjoyment in building community and sharing your Pilates journey and work with your audience on social media.
